INTRODUCTION
Thank you for visiting my website.
"It's time to shrink Washington so we can grow Western New York."
I am running for Congress to bring real change to Washington, D.C., restore accountability, get people to stop the partisan bickering and start solving the problems families are facing. This is what Western New Yorkers are demanding, and it is what they deserve.
By working together we can make these things happen, and we can get Washington working again for Western New York.
If we do that then we can help create jobs at home, lower taxes for hard working families, develop a real energy policy, and ensure access to affordable healthcare for all Western New Yorkers.
I will work hard everyday to earn your trust, and your vote.
I look forward to talking with you, and working together to get Washington working again for us.
PLATFORM
For too long Washington and Albany have promised Western New York a lot, but they haven't kept their promises. But the time has come for Western New Yorkers to get the solutions to the problems they face on a daily basis. I am going to fight everyday in Washington to bring real change, restore accountability and end the partisan bickering so we can develop bi-partisan solutions.
Jobs of Today, Tomorrow and the Future
The most important thing for our families is having jobs not just for us, but for our children. Right now Western New York is facing the challenge of entering a 21st century economy and not having enough jobs for our children. Fortunately, Western New York is well equipped to face these challenges. We have a world-class workforce, excellent educational institutions and a work ethic second to none. What needs to happen is the government, in Washington and Albany, needs to get out of the way and let businesses do what they do best – create jobs. When I am elected, I will fight everyday for policies that increase the incentives for businesses to take risks, be entrepreneurial and ultimately create jobs.
Lower Taxes and Less Spending
My experience as a businessman has taught me when something isn't working in a company it needs to be fixed, changed or reformed. And right now the tax and spend system in Washington isn't working for Western New York families or small businesses. We need to bring real change to the system so that taxpayers know their hard earned money isn't going to some wasteful government program instead of a school in Western New York.
Lower Taxes –
We all know that taxes are simply too high, too burdensome and too complex. We need real changes in the way we are taxed, how much we are taxed and how much time we spend filing our taxes. When I am elected, I will work to lower the tax burden for Western New York taxpayers, lower the tax burden on small businesses which are the engines that drive our economy and create jobs, and simplify the tax code.
Less Spending –
For too long Western New Yorkers have paid more than their fair share in taxes only to see their hard earned money be thrown away at bridges to nowhere instead of roads to Western New York or jobs for the future. By restoring accountability in Washington, Western New Yorkers will see where the government is spending their hard earned tax dollars. This will bring to the forefront wasteful, abusive and fraudulent spending. By uncovering this waste of taxpayers' money, Washington can work again for Western New Yorkers by spending money on the programs that actually work.
An Energy Policy for the Next Generation
Unfortunately politicians in Washington have been more interested in partisan bickering than bi-partisan problem solving. Politicians have been more interested in scoring partisan points than building bi-partisan solutions. This is largely the reason why we haven't had a comprehensive energy policy for the past 30 years. But that needs to change, and it needs to change in the next Congress. We simply cannot go another 30 years without a comprehensive energy policy, which is why when I am elected to Congress I will fight to:
- - Lessen our dependence on foreign oil by increasing American made energy through exploration;
- - Promote new, clean, reliable sources of energy;
- - Encourage conservation, and;
- - Increase investment in research funding for alternative energy.
If we can accomplish these four principles then we will be well on our way to a comprehensive energy policy that will truly make a difference for our children.
Affordable, Accessible Healthcare
Another casualty of the partisan rancor in Washington has been the inability of Congress to develop a plan for affordable, accessible healthcare. The costs for families and small businesses to either get insurance or provide insurance is simply unacceptable. Congress needs to develop a market-based approach that ensures access to affordable healthcare for all Western New Yorkers. We must all look at ways to lower the cost of healthcare through medical malpractice lawsuit reform and increasing healthcare IT development. Unfortunately, if Congress doesn't develop a comprehensive, market-based approach to healthcare than Western New York families and small businesses are going to pay for it through higher taxes, higher premiums and less access to healthcare.
Restoring Accountability and Transparency in Washington
Washington is broken - paralyzed by partisan bickering, lobbyists, and greedy special interests. I will break the gridlock and restore taxpayer trust by holding our leaders accountable for how they spend our hard earned money. Rightfully, Western New Yorkers are frustrated with how their tax dollars are being spent in Washington. I will fight for a more transparent and fair system that will ensure real earmark reform. Any dollar being spent by the federal government should be done so in the light of day not behind closed doors. I want to change the way Washington does business by ensuring that we have an open system that holds our leaders accountable. Just like a CEO would want, Western New Yorkers deserve to know exactly how their money is being spent - that can only happen with a more transparent and accountable Washington.
